Historic theater in downtown Milwaukee now used primarily as a venue for touring musical artists. Managed by the Pabst Theater Group, which also manages Riverside Theater and Turner Hall.

The Cudahy Pub on the east side of the building was added in the early 2000’s.

From Guides to Historic Milwaukee: Juneautown Walking Tour by Mary Ellen Pagel and Virginia Palmer (1965)…

When the second theater on this site was destroyed by fire, Frederick Pabst commissioned his architect to design a new theater more sumptuous than either of its predecessors. Until World War I, German dialogue plays were featured here, and the rich cultural offrings of the Pabst Theater helped Milwaukee to earn the title “the German Athens of the Midwest.” Until the 1930’s the Pabst Theater Café stood just east of the theater on Wells Street.
