Marguerite Helmers

Marguerite Helmers

Marguerite Helmers was Professor of English at UW Oshkosh before turning to freelance research, writing, and editing in 2017. At the university, she taught courses in English and Irish literature, incorporating a significant measure of music and visual arts with the literary works. She has served as an educational consultant in Colombia and Oman, and has been a fellow at several humanities institutes in the USA and abroad, including University College Dublin. A member of Milwaukee’s Music for Youth (now MYSO) in the 1970s, Helmers attended college with a scholarship for harp performance. She is pleased to be returning to her early roots in Milwaukee’s music scene by writing for Urban Milwaukee.
