The U.S. Bank Center is a class A office building on the eastern end of downtown Milwaukee. The building is the tallest building in the state of Wisconsin at a height of 601 feet.
The building was originally known as the First Wisconsin Center as it was the headquarters of the First Wisconsin National Bank. In 1992 the name was changed to the Firstar Center as the bank expanded beyond Wisconsin. It was renamed the U.S. Bank Center in 2002 following a 2001 merger of Firstar and U.S. Bank.
The tower is the site of a number of events every year, including the Flight for Air Climb and Doors Open Milwaukee.
The parking garage for the facility is located across E. Michigan St. It was originally built in a way to serve as a base for a second, nearly identical tower. It was rebuilt in 2010 with a smaller footprint.
As a result of the reconfiguration of the parking structure, a Westin Hotel was developed on the site. It opened in 2017.
The building is connected by skywalks to a number of nearby buildings.
The top floors of the building are leased to law firm Foley & Lardner.
During Bud Selig‘s tenure as Major League Baseball commissioner, MLB headquarters were located in the building.

The 11th installment of Eyes on Milwaukee focuses on transit, development, and new restaurants. The Downtown Transit Center's redevelopment is inching closer to reality. Imagine this for a moment -- you’re a kid in a candy store, and as things go, this candy store is opening for the first time ever and only for one weekend. Oh gosh. You’ve dreamed of this cornucopia of confections so many times before, you know every name and shiny wrapper in the store... but your eyes are bigger than your stomach. How can you pick just a choice few, knowing your slight allowance won’t let you have all that you want? It’s the best and worst kind of agony.

Yesterday, Dave Reid and myself were invited to the Brownfields Study Group 10th Anniversary Celebration. Now brownfield redevelopment is wonderful, and Milwaukee has some wonderful examples including the nationally-recognized Menomonee Valley, but we were a little distracted by the view from the event. The event was held on the 40th floor of the US Bank Center in the offices of Foley & Lardner.
