Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs and Alderman Ashanti Hamilton will host the One MKE Stakeholders Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, January 5, 2012 at the Milwaukee Area Technical College Cooley Auditorium, 1015 N. 6th St. The event, designed to help residents learn their “‘special interest,’ be a part of creating an agenda, and learn the process on how to effectively fight for it,” is organized by the NAACP Milwaukee Branch.

To begin the new year in the spirit of collaboration, a wide variety of the city’s stakeholders, thought leaders and professional organizations have been invited to join in the conversation, geared toward encouraging civic engagement among Milwaukee’s African American community in response to alarming racial statistics.

“The One MKE Stakeholders Town Hall Meeting will present a unique opportunity for citizens to express their concerns about issues that impact them and what they want done to improve their quality of life,” Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs said. “It truly will be a memorable, interactive experience.”

“After record voter participation in a number of elections this past year, it is now time for the African-American community to present a results-oriented, solutions-based agenda that will move our community and, therefore, the entire city forward,” Alderman Ashanti Hamilton said.

The One MKE Summit begins at 9:30 a.m. and continues throughout the day with workshops starting at 11:30 a.m. and dealing with a variety of issues. Then in the evening, the events conclude with a free mixer open to the public at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St. from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
