Statement from Mayor Cavalier Johnson on Tourism Numbers Showing Milwaukee is the State’s Travel Leader

“Milwaukee leads the state in tourism. Numbers just out from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism show our county is, far and away, the leader in tourism spending, number of visitors, and jobs for local residents in hospitality.

“This achievement is possible because of the hard work of businesses, attractions, sports teams, the Baird Center, and, especially, Visit Milwaukee. We have shown the world what we can offer, particularly when we hosted the Republican National Convention last summer.

“We are beginning to realize Milwaukee’s potential. From our waterways, our parks, our vibrancy, and, most of all, our people, we are a wonderful destination.

“I want even more tourism in Milwaukee. Our city is building on our success, and I am confident tourism will continue to increase in the coming years.”
