City of Milwaukee to Host Town Hall Meeting with Adam Procell, Director of the Office of Community Wellness and Safety

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The City of Milwaukee invites the public to a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 2, featuring Adam Procell, Director of the Office of Community Wellness and Safety. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about his vision for the office and the resources available to residents.

“I am confident the more people get to know Adam Procell, the more they will be impressed by his approach and his vision for the Office of Community Wellness and Safety,” Mayor Cavalier Johnson said. “He is fully engaged in making Milwaukee a safer community, and he has my support.”

The Office of Community Wellness and Safety is building a foundation to promote well-being, resiliency and healing through community-based initiatives. As Director, Procell leads the collaborative strategies to strengthen violence prevention, reentry and public safety throughout the city.

“Milwaukee is at a pivotal moment to reimagine what safety and wellness look like, not only through enforcement, but through healing, opportunity and shared responsibility,” Procell said. “Our office is building systems that empower residents and center lived experiences so every neighborhood has the chance to thrive. Our goal is to create lasting structures that make Milwaukee not only safer, but more equitable and resilient for generations to come.”

Having dedicated his life to violence prevention and justice system reform after serving 23 years in prison for murder, Procell has become recognized nationally for advancing second-chance infrastructure and building systems of shared accountability.

In addition to his new role, Procell facilitates Home To Stay, Wisconsin’s largest coordinated reentry resource fair, and serves as Coordinator of the Milwaukee Reentry Council, which aligns efforts by bringing together government, community organizations, and those with lived experience.

Procell is also the architect of Act 233, a Wisconsin law that requires organizations to collaborate through community reentry centers—an approach that reflects the ethos of his leadership. In addition, he co-founded Paradigm Shyft, a consulting firm focused on justice system reform, and is an adjunct instructor at Marquette University.
