WISN 12 Welcomes Brittany Ward to the Weather Watch 12 Team

MILWAUKEE, WI – Brittany Ward is joining WISN 12 News as the station’s new weekend morning meteorologist. Effective August 17, 2026, Ward will work alongside anchor Lakyra Banks on ‘WISN 12 News This Morning’ Saturdays and Sundays, from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Ward will also deliver additional weather reports and special news assignments for WISN 12 News throughout the week.

“Brittany’s no stranger to severe weather. She understands the effect that accurate forecasts can have on local communities,” says Shawn Oswald, president and general manager of WISN 12. “From keeping people safe to planning out the weekend, Brittany’s especially skilled at laying out the practical impact of weather on our everyday lives.”

Ward is the latest addition to the Weather Watch 12 team, which includes Milwaukee’s Chief Meteorologist Mark Baden, weekday morning meteorologist Jason Dunning, and weekend evening meteorologist Kristen Kirchhaine.

“I’m thrilled to join WISN 12 and be part of a team that has such a strong commitment to keeping viewers informed and prepared,” shares Ward. “Weather can change plans in an instant, and I’m looking forward to helping our community stay ahead of it every weekend.”

Before joining the Weather Watch 12 team, Ward worked as a meteorologist at DC News Now in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, she was a meteorologist in Maryland at WDVM-TV . In addition, Ward has served in a variety of broadcast journalism roles throughout her career, including producer, co-producer, digital producer, reporter, and more.

Ward grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from Temple University with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Studies and Production. She then went on to receive her certificate in Broadcast and Operational Meteorology from Mississippi State University. Ward is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the American Meteorological Society, and the National Weather Association.
