Marquette elects two new members to Board of Trustees

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University Board of Trustees has elected two new members: Todd A. Adams and Hon. Janine P. Geske.

Todd A. Adams is the president and chief executive officer of Rexnord Cororation, a global diversified industrial company based in Milwaukee. Adams joined Rexnord in 2004; he was appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer in 2008 and also as president of the company’s water management platform in 2009. Adams became president and CEO and was elected to the board of directors in 2009. He has held various positions at The Boeing Company, APW Ltd. and Applied Power Inc. (currently Actuant Corporation).

Adams also serves on the boards of Generac Holdings Inc., The Water Council, and Hunger Task Force. He earned his bachelor of business administration degree in finance from Eastern Illinois University and is a certified public accountant.

Hon. Janine P. Geske, a 1975 Marquette University Law School alumna, served as a justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court from 1993 to 1998. From 1998 to 2013 she served as a distinguished professor of law at Marquette Law School where she directed the school’s Restorative Justice Initiative. Geske previously served as the chief staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee until 1979 and as an assistant professor at Marquette Law School from 1978 to 1981. Beginning in 1981, Geske served in the Milwaukee County circuit court for 12 years, until she was appointed to the Wisconsin Supreme Court by Gov. Tommy Thompson in 1993. She won election to the court in 1994, and resigned from the bench in 1998. From February to May 2002, she served as the interim county executive for Milwaukee County, and from 2002 to 2003 she served as interim dean of the Marquette Law School.

The Milwaukee Bar Association twice honored Geske with its Lawyer of the Year Award, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. She was recognized as the Marquette Law School’s Alumna of the Year and Marquette University’s Alumna of the Year. Geske currently serves on the boards of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and the OPUS Prize Foundation. She served as chair of the Marquette University High School Board and on the boards of Beloit College and the Equal Justice Task Force. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Beloit College in 1971 and 1972.
