Packers Announce Roster Moves
The Green Bay Packers have signed RB Damon Bankston and S Kahlef Hailassie to the practice squad and released S Murvin Kenion III (KEN-yin). The transactions were announced Wednesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
(duh-MAWN) Bankston (5-10, 196) is a rookie out of the University of New Mexico who was originally signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent on May 8, 2026, but was released after training camp. He started his college career at Weber State (2021-24) before finishing at New Mexico (2025). Overall, Bankston played in 51 games with 24 starts, recording 2,959 yards and 27 touchdowns on 505 carries (5.9 avg.) as well as 65 receptions for 729 yards (11.2 avg.) and four TDs. He also registered 16 kickoff returns for 532 yards (33.3 avg.) and two TDs. Bankston will wear No. 35 for the Packers.
(kuh-LEEF huh-LAW-see) Hailassie (6-1, 193) is a fourth-year player out of Western Kentucky University who originally signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a rookie free agent in 2023. He was released by the Chiefs after training camp and spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons on the active roster and practice squad of the Cleveland Browns, appearing in one game each year. Hailassie recorded six tackles (five solo), a tackle for a loss and a pass defensed as well as two tackles on special teams for the Browns. In 2025, he signed with the Minnesota Vikings and began the season on the Vikings’ practice squad before being signed to the active roster of the Jacksonville Jaguars for Weeks 3-11, but did not see any game action. He finished last season on Minnesota’s practice squad and spent the offseason with the Vikings before being released after training camp and signing to Minnesota’s practice squad for a week. Hailassie will wear No. 34 for the Packers.
