Recount Reaffirms that Wisconsin Voters Picked Joe Biden
MADISON, Wis. — With the partial recount requested by the Trump campaign completed, the facts of this election have been reaffirmed once again: Wisconsin’s election was safe and secure and the voters selected Joe Biden to be our next President.
It is evident that, from the start, this effort was never about verifying the security of the election, which was conducted professionally and securely by trusted local officials and community members across the state. Rather, it was about attempting to change the rules to exclude the votes of citizens of the two most racially diverse counties in Wisconsin. These voters cast their ballots in good faith, and in accordance with the long-standing guidance provided by the state, and Wisconsin Republicans are complicit in the racial dog-whistling that aims to undermine the legally cast ballots of our citizens and change the rules retroactively to empower their party. The voters decided who won this election, and nobody gets to change the rules after the fact because they did not like the outcome.
With the results and integrity of the election reaffirmed, it’s time to move on to delivering on the people’s demands. Wisconsinites need government intervention to slow the spread of COVID-19, further equip our hospitals to deal with the surge, and ensure the economic well-being of all those who have been affected by the virus. As many residents face eviction, unemployment, or an uncertain future for their small business, Wisconsinites need Republicans in the legislature to step up and show up for their struggling families and communities.
Commented A Better Wisconsin Together Executive Director Nicole Safar, “The recount is over and the results of the election will soon be certified. It’s time to move forward and deliver on what Wisconsinites really need – economic relief and public health measures to tackle the COVID-19 crisis.”
