Milwaukee, WI – October 24, 2017 — Milwaukee Startup Week will garner national and international attention in November as it hosts the “Road to GES.” Milwaukee was selected as one of three principal U.S. cities to help raise awareness in the lead up to the eighth annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Hyderabad, India on November 28-30, 2017. Milwaukee Startup Week, November 6-12, will be the first “Road to GES” event to welcome the entrepreneurial initiative.

“Milwaukee Startup Week and the other two signature events in Houston and Pittsburgh not only lead up to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, but they will spur transformative opportunities for investment while highlighting the strength of our cities as key drivers of prosperity,” said Kathryn Wellner, Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Public Affairs.

The Road to GES event will officially kick off Milwaukee Startup Week on November 6, 8 a.m., at the Ward 4 Pritzlaff building, 333 N. Plankinton Ave. The headline speaker is Mark Green, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The event will also offer a variety of panel workshop sessions on topics ranging from women’s leadership in entrepreneurship to health technology.

“We are very excited to host this inspiring event at Startup Week,” said Ed Javier, co-founder of Wisconsin Startup Week. “It is a great way to show the country, and the world, that Milwaukee is a premier player on the entrepreneurial scene and is growing in so many ways. It brings well-deserved recognition and will only further ignite the exciting new business developments that are happening here in Milwaukee every day.”

In the lead-up to the Summit, the Road to GES series creates opportunities for discussion, investment and collaboration in cities across the United States, India and around the world. These partnerships accelerate job creation, private-sector connection and innovation in markets and communities.
