Martha De La Rosa Joins Wisconsin Jobs Now as Executive Director
De La Rosa comes to Wisconsin Jobs Now with nearly two decades of experience as an activist and leader in the fight for social and economic justice.
MILWAUKEE – Wisconsin’s leading economic justice advocacy organization, Wisconsin Jobs Now, announced Monday that Martha De La Rosa has joined the organization as its new Executive Director.
De La Rosa comes to Wisconsin Jobs Now with nearly two decades of experience as an activist and leader in the fight for social and economic justice.
“I’m honored and excited to join the member activists and leaders of Wisconsin Jobs Now who fight everyday to improve the lives of Wisconsin’s working families,” said De La Rosa. “No other organization fights harder than Wisconsin Jobs Now to achieve economic security for everyone in Wisconsin, especially the working poor.
“Under my leadership, Wisconsin Jobs Now will continue to organize and mobilize everyday people in the fight for freedom and opportunity, and we will not back down from challenging the powerful special interests which seek to divide us against one another.”
Most recently, Martha served as the state director of 9to5 Wisconsin, the Wisconsin chapter of one of the largest and most respected national membership organizations of working women in the Unites States. Previously, Martha served as the state director for the Center for Progressive Leadership, where she developed the next generation of progressive political leaders, organizers, and community activists across Wisconsin.
Martha De La Rosa is a working mother and a long-time resident of the City of Milwaukee. After graduating from George Washington High School, she attended Cardinal Stritch University and received her Bachelor’s of Science in Management.
Martha serves as a board member on the City of Milwaukee Ethics Board, the Wisconsin Working Families Party, and the Milwaukee Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She is also a national board member with Family Values at Work, a network of 21 state and local coalitions helping spur the growing movement for family-friendly workplace policies.
In 2013, Martha was awarded “Grassroots Activist of the Year” by Citizen Action of Wisconsin for her role with the Fight for $15 campaign, where she worked with community leaders and underpaid workers to introduce and pass a living wage ordinance for Milwaukee County.
