Lucas Names Gorens-Levey and Lovern as Transition Co-Chairs
Earnell Lucas was elected as the 65th Sheriff of Milwaukee County on November 6, 2018.
Today, Milwaukee County Sheriff-elect Earnell Lucas named Linda Gorens-Levey, a respected civic and business leader, and Chief Deputy District Attorney Kent Lovern as co-chairs of his transition team. Gorens-Levey and Lovern will coordinate a comprehensive transition process that will culminate when Lucas takes office as the 65th Sheriff of Milwaukee County on January 7, 2019.
“Ms. Gorens-Levey and Mr. Lovern are innovative Milwaukee County leaders who share a firm commitment to building a strong and safe community for all,” said Lucas. “I am grateful for their willingness to serve as transition team co-chairs. Their combined experience in organizational management and public advocacy will contribute to a successful transition of leadership at the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.”
Gorens-Levey is a partner at General Capital Group in Milwaukee and a member of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, where she co-chairs the MKE United initiative. She is active in civic advocacy and philanthropy, serving as a Trustee of the Medical College of Wisconsin and until recently was a member of the Board of Directors of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County. Gorens-Levey previously held executive positions at Stark Investments and Northwestern Mutual.
Lovern has served as Chief Deputy District Attorney of Milwaukee County since 2008. He serves on the boards of directors of the Sojourner Family Peace Center and the Urban Ecology Center. Lovern was previously the deputy district attorney for the Violent Crimes Unit, an assistant district attorney and an attorney in private practice.
Earnell Lucas was elected as the 65th Sheriff of Milwaukee County on November 6, 2018. A decorated law enforcement executive, Lucas served 25 years in the Milwaukee Police Department and led over 200 officers as captain of Police District Three. Lucas currently serves as Major League Baseball’s Chief Liaison of Security and Investigations for the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues. Lucas graduated from Rufus King High School and Marquette University (BA, Criminal Justice and Law Studies) and holds management certificates from Northwestern University, the FBI National Academy, and the Senior Management Institute for Police. He resides in Milwaukee with his wife.
