Downtown Shines with Two Art Experiences Planned for April 21 & 22
Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 to host “Light Club” and “Lights In Bloom” for a multisensory experience
MILWAUKEE (April 11, 2023) – Downtown Milwaukee ushers in spring with “Downtown In Bloom,” a weekend celebration of flowers, art and light. On the evenings of April 21 and 22, art-enthusiasts can find a “Light Club” at “Lightfield” by HYBYCOZO at Cathedral Square Park and see “Lights In Bloom,” a video art projection by local artist and downtown muralist Emma Daisy Gertel on BMO Tower. Coordinated by Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, the two events are in concurrence with Gallery Night MKE and are free to attend.
Beginning at dusk (approx. 7:30 p.m.) on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22, a vibrant video art installation called “Lights in Bloom” will be projected onto BMO Tower’s parking structure until 10 p.m. Created by artist Emma Daisy Gertel, the installation features a short animation inspired by spring blossoms. Viewers can watch the projection from the parking lot at 771 N. Broadway for the best vantage point. “Lights in Bloom” is produced by Exciting Events, supported by BMO Tower and Dermond Property Investments, and sponsored by Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21.
“We’re excited to showcase two interactive art experiences in the public realm during Gallery Night MKE,” said Beth Weirick, CEO of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21. “‘Downtown in Bloom’ is a way to delight gallery-hopping guests with sound, color and social experiences.”
