Alderman José G. Pérez reminds residents that the deadline to apply for Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 Homebuyer Assistance funding is fast approaching. Anyone wishing to utilize NSP2 assistance to purchase and rehabilitate a foreclosed home must have their applications (with accepted offers) submitted to the Milwaukee Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation by Monday, Oct. 1 2012.

After the deadline, Homebuyer Assistance loans will only be available for properties in the parts of the Sherman Park and Layton Boulevard West neighborhoods that are included in the NSP3 program area. You can learn more about the boundaries of the program areas by visiting the Neighborhood Stabilization Program website.

The city has received $25 million of NSP2 funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to help Milwaukee properties impacted by the foreclosure crisis, and those funds must be allocated and spent by February of 2013. Participants are offered both financial and technical advice as part of the program.
