Coalition of Photographic Arts kicks off new year with real Life Mad Man
Award-winning ad exec dave hanneken featured january 12th
CoPA, the Coalition of Photographic Arts (Milwaukee) is delighted to present advertising executive Dave Hanneken as the featured speaker on January 12th. Hanneken, whose work has won every international, national, regional and local award for advertising excellence, has often used photography to sell a product or point of view, and he is poised to share a treasure trove of knowledge and experience with the photographic arts community.
At the first CoPA member meeting of the year, to be held at Louise’s Trattoria at 801 North Jefferson Street in Milwaukee, Hanneken will discuss the craft of photography as a preeminent force of storytelling, and the difference between a good photograph and a really great one. Hanneken “was blessed to work with some of the finest photographers in the world,” whom he credits for helping to win such accolades as One Show pencils, Clio statues, Cannes Lions and Effie Golds.
For 25 years Hanneken has worked with photographers to tell visual stories that incite emotion, influence attitudes, and often times make people laugh. He credits a youthful steady diet of Mad Magazine with his mindset. “Every ad I’ve written can be folded in half to form a witty and subversive message,” Hanneken says half-jokingly.
The event on January 12th promises to be both eye opening and vastly entertaining. In addition to his countless advertising awards, Hanneken won the Diederich College of Communication’s “Adjunct Teacher of the Year Award” his very first year in the classroom as an adjunct professor at Marquette University.
CoPA serves a membership of professional full-time photographers, fine art photographers, hobbyists and “pro amateurs” with monthly meetings, speaker series, workshops, portfolio reviews, juried exhibitions, gallery shows and public exhibitions.
The event is a suggested $2 donation for CoPA members, and a $7.50 charge for non-members. Louise’s, 801 North Jefferson Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202 (414) 273-4224
