Food Relief Program for Older Adults Hits Major Milestone
Hunger Task Force and DoorDash mark a milestone in fighting senior food insecurity.

Since 2021, Hunger Task Force and DoorDash Impact have partnered on a program that delivers monthly boxes of supplementary food to low-income seniors in Milwaukee.
This September, the program, known as Stockbox DoorDash, hit a major milestone: more than 80,000 Stockboxes have been delivered to Milwaukee seniors facing food insecurity.
Stockboxes include cereal, milk, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta or rice, protein, fruit juice, canned meat and a block of Wisconsin government cheese. The boxes items are delivered free of charge to help lower monthly grocery spending.
Mobility challenges, rising grocery costs and transportation barriers intersect with low-income seniors’ ability to access food in healthy and safe ways. By delivering Stockboxes directly to seniors’ doors, the program traverses those accessibility barriers.
The program allows Hunger Task Force to expand its execution of the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), a federally funded nutrition program under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), known in Wisconsin as “Stockbox” or “the Stockbox Program.”
Stockbox DoorDash represents nearly 20% of Hunger Task Force’s total Stockbox distribution, according to a 2025 blog post by Zachary Staszewski on Hunger Task Force’s website.
“The Hunger Task Force Stockbox DoorDash program is one of the largest CSFP delivery programs in the country. It’s impressive to see what the Hunger Task Force team has built over the years and how delivery has become a core part of their Stockbox program,” said Daniel Riff, the head of global food access programs at DoorDash, in Staszewski’s blog post.
According to Feeding America, 16.9% of people in Milwaukee County experienced food insecurity in 2024. Hunger Task Force reports that one in every seven people they serve is a senior.
To sign up for Stockbox DoorDash, visit the program’s website. Eligible seniors must be age 60 or older, meet low-income thresholds based on household size, live within a 10-mile radius of Hunger Task Force, 5000 W. Electric Ave., and not currently receive a Stockbox from a separate source or pantry.
