The complex was built as a hospital and a theater. It was later used as an office building by Milwaukee County. Developer Rick Wiegand acquired the complex in 2015.
Wiegand is developing the Grand AvenueSuites hotel immediately to the south in the former Wisconsin Avenue School.
The parcel is being combined with parking lots at 2734 W. Wells St., 2805 W. Wells St. and 763 N. 28th St.
A redevelopment into office space is planned. An earlier planned called for much of the complex to be redeveloped into The Future Food Center by FaB Wisconsin.
