Chairwoman Nicholson Named a 2023 Milwaukee Area Power Broker
MILWAUKEE – County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson has been named a “Milwaukee-area power broker” for 2023 by the Milwaukee Business Journal.
“Thank you to the Milwaukee Business Journal for recognizing my work alongside so many accomplished individuals making a difference in our community,” said Chairwoman Nicholson. “I will continue to use what influence I have as Chairwoman to uplift underserved communities and advance equity across Milwaukee. As our region faces both challenges and opportunities, it is vital that we work together to propel Milwaukee to become a world-class destination for people of all races, classes, and backgrounds to live, work, and visit.”
The Milwaukee Business Journal names a group of 100 power brokers in the Milwaukee area each year. According to the newspaper these, “are the top business execs in southeastern Wisconsin when it comes to getting things done.”
Chairwoman Nicholson was unanimously re-elected by her colleagues as Chairwoman of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors in April 2022, for the 2022-24 term. She is the first Afro-Latina to hold that office.
In addition to leading the County Board, Chairwoman Nicholson serves on the governing boards of the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee Public Museum, Wisconsin Counties Association, Clean Wisconsin, the UW-Extension Board of Visitors, and Local Progress.
