Rep. Stubbs’ Statement on Decision to not Charge Officer Sheskey in Shooting of Jacob Blake
MADISON, WI- Today, the Kenosha District Attorney Michael Gravely decided to not charge the officer who fired his weapon at Jacob Blake seven times at his back, leaving him paralyzed. Upon this announcement, Rep. Stubbs released the following statement:
“The decision of Kenosha District Attorney Gravely to not charge Officer Sheskey leaves the Blake family without justice, and the Kenosha community without peace. This injustice cannot fall on deaf ears. We must all keep Jacob Blake and his family in our prayers, and act to change this broken system.”
“I have, and will continue to be, a fighter for meaningful reform. As Chair of the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus, and as Co-Chair of the Speakers Taskforce on Racial Disparities, the story of Jacob Blake, and the resulting injustice, will be a constant reminder of the work that needs to be done”
