Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet to Host Fourth Annual “3 Days of Christmas” Holiday Initiative
Local restaurateurs kick off three-day holiday initiative with support from local businesses and legislators
MILWAUKEE, WI, December 11, 2019 – The Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet will kick off their fourth annual “3 Days of Christmas” holiday initiative at an official press conference on Wednesday, Dec. 11. at 4:00pm at Marquette University alongside Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet Board Chairman Omar Shaikh, Milwaukee Mayor Barrett, Alderman Jose Perez – 12th district, Senator Tim Carpenter, State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa, State Representative David Crowley, DNC Host Committee President Liz Gilbert, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin VP of Community Health Bridget Clementi, COA Youth & Family Centers Executive Director Tom Schneider, Wisconsin Restaurant Association President/CEO Kristine Hillmer, VISIT Milwaukee President/CEO Peggy Williams-Smith, Marquette University Mens Basketball Head Coach Steve Wojciechowski, and more.
The Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet has been successful with this holiday effort to nine other local charities the previous three years, serving more than 600 individuals by providing meals, gifts and winter necessities. This year, for three days in a row, restaurants will partner with an organization to serve a quality meal while sponsors contribute to supply gifts to all guests.
“The Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet’s mission to lend an open and helping hand to the community is a truly deserving cause,” said Phoenix Investors Chairman and Founder, Frank Crivello. “Initiatives like the 3 Days of Christmas are integral to supporting local communities and families in need.”
The three-day event will start with Calderone Club and Carnevor Steakhouse Moderne as they serve an upscale meal at Marquette University with the Marquette University Mens Basketball Team in support of Project Ujima, a community program at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin that strives to promote safe, violence free communities while empowering at-risk victims of violence to improve their quality of life, build confidence and self-esteem, learn coping strategies to help prevent re-injury, and establish a support system with others who share similar experiences.
Day 2 supports the Walker’s Point Youth and Family Center Runaway and Teen Crisis Program, with dinner being served by Marcus Restaurants and SafeHouse MKE. This program provides a safe and legal housing alternative for runaway and homeless youth, as well as offering a neutral space where problem-solving can take place for both the youth and the family.
Day 3 supports COA Youth & Family Centers at the Doerfler School, with dinner being served by Point Burger Bar. COA Youth & Family Centers helps Milwaukee children, teens, and families reach their greatest potential through a continuum of educational, recreational, and social work programs offered through its urban community centers and rural camp facility.
