MILWAUKEE, WI — The United Community Center (UCC) is proud to commemorate 55 years of unwavering service and transformational impact in Milwaukee. On Friday, May 2, 2025, UCC hosted its milestone 55th Anniversary Celebration, spotlighting the people, programs, and partnerships that have shaped a thriving and empowered community for over five decades.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating 55 Years of Impact: A Legacy in Our Hands,” reflects both the rich history and bold future of UCC. Since 1970, UCC has been a trusted cornerstone of support and opportunity, serving as a second home for generations of Milwaukee’s Hispanic families.

It has been another remarkable year at UCC,” said CEO Laura Gutierrez. “We are proud to honor our past while building a future filled with even greater possibilities. This celebration is a tribute to our staff, board, donors, and partners who make our work possible and ensure UCC continues to be a beacon of hope and progress.”

In 2024 alone, UCC programs touched thousands of lives:

  • 15,000 individuals served across all programs
  • 1,755 students educated in UCC’s K-8 schools
  • 605 seniors supported monthly through UCC’s Elderly and Family Care Programs
  • 638 individuals empowered on their recovery journey
  • 357 first-time homeowners assisted through UCC’s First-Time Homebuyer Program
  • 563 dedicated employees and 65 corporate sponsors driving change every day

The evening included a powerful performance from the Latino Arts Strings Program, the unveiling of UCC’s Student Wall of Fame honorees, and the presentation of two major recognitions: the Estrella Brillante Award, which honors individuals and partners who have been a bright, guiding light in UCC’s journey and Excellence in Education Award, which celebrates outstanding educators who embody the heart of UCC’s mission.
