TID amendment means affordable housing, traffic safety and other improvements for Bronzeville
Yesterday (Thursday, July 31) the Common Council approved an amendment to a city Tax Incremental District (TID) that will help pay for significant affordable housing, infrastructure improvements, and traffic calming features in the Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District.
Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, the primary sponsor of file #250524, said the funding will serve as a key investment mechanism for items that are much needed in the area, including public infrastructure improvements and various street amenities and safety improvements, public art, commercial renovation for capital expenditures, and construction of new homes to support affordable home ownership.
“We are fortunate to have dedicated partners in bringing these investments to life, including Habitat for Humanity and the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District,” Alderwoman Coggs said.
“I would like to thank Department of City Development staff who worked on the amendment, and I also want to thank my Council colleagues for their strong support in approving the TID amendment file,” she said.
