Milwaukee’s Community Organizations to Host a Voter Community Forum

Local community-driven organizations will bring speakers from a variety of political backgrounds to help educate voters before Election Day

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The United Methodist Children’s Services of Wisconsin, Inc. (UMCS) has partnered with the Greater Milwaukee Urban League, MKE United and a variety of additional Milwaukee-area community organizations to bring a voter community forum to residents on Saturday, October 22 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Washington High School of Information Technology. The event is free to attend, but registrations are required.

“Educated voters are a key to our functioning democracy and access to information to make those informed decisions is paramount to building our communities,” Adrian Spencer, Director of Neighborhood Engagement for UMCS said. “Casting a vote is a powerful responsibility. Exercising your right to vote is how we show up and advocate for what we value, and hold elected officials accountable to the community. Having the knowledge to know what you’re voting for makes that action all the stronger as we look to build and grow our community.”

The Voter Community Forum will feature voter advocates and representatives to speak on issues and candidates on the ballot for the November 2022 election, including bipartisan information for the Senate and Governors races.

In addition to UMCS, Greater Milwaukee Urban League, and MKE United, the Voter Community Forum is supported by Clarke Square Neighborhood Initiative, Dominican Center, Fathers Making Progress, Greater Milwaukee Committee,Greater Milwaukee Urban League Guild, Muskego Way Forward, Near West Side Partners, Safe & Sound, Sherman Park Community Association, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers, VIA CDC, Walnut Way Conservation Corp. and King Drive BID.
