Exhibition highlighting Lindsay Heights neighborhood comes to City Hall
The “See What We See: Stories of Environmental Stewardship in Lindsay Heights” photovoice exhibition is now available for viewing in the first floor rotunda of City Hall, 200 E. Wells St. Directed by UWM PhD student Dulmini Jayawardana, the viewing will run from April 8 – 12. A photovoice exhibition features photographs taken by community members as a way to amplify their voices. Photographs on display represent these community members’ lived experiences, stories, memories, emotions, perspectives, and knowledge about various aspects of environmental stewardship in Lindsay Heights.
“I am very proud of the community coming together to tell these key stories. Through their photographs we are given insight into positive and negative aspects of caring for, protecting, and being responsible users of the environment in the neighborhood. Lindsay Heights is a historic and resilient area, employing grassroots, resident-led initiatives and collaborations to revitalize the neighborhood, and it was named as the first eco-neighborhood in Milwaukee in 2018. To see this story be carried out in community member’s own words and photos is inspiring. I encourage everyone to please visit this exhibition,” said Alderman Stamper.
