Dimitrijevic for Assembly: Gains Endorsement of Public Educators in Wisconsin
MTEA and WEAC Agree that Marina is the Best Choice
Marina Dimitrijevic, candidate for the Wisconsin State Assembly, District 19, has been endorsed by the Wisconsin Education Association Council and the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association. WEAC and MTEA represent the thousands of public school educators that prepare over 865,000 Wisconsin public school students to succeed.
“I am a proud graduate of Milwaukee Public Schools. As the daughter of an immigrant who came here in search of the American Dream, I credit our public schools with providing me an opportunity to excel. Public education is the road to rebuilding and strengthening our middle class. We must invest in opportunities for our children so that the next generation does better than the last. I will be ready on day one to invest in our public schools, technical colleges, and universities so that every child in Wisconsin has an equal opportunity to achieve,” said Marina Dimitrijevic.
“Marina is a proven champion who will fight for our public schools. Her experience and record make her the best choice for State Representative in District 19. Marina knows personally how important a properly funded public school system is and she will make sure children in Milwaukee are receiving the best public education possible because every student in Wisconsin deserves a fair chance to succeed,” said Kim Schroeder, Vice President of MTEA.
Marina Dimitrijevic’s campaign for the State Assembly has broad community support. She presently serves as Chairwoman of the County Board of Supervisors where she has been elected to represent Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood, located in Assembly District 19, for the past 10 years. This experience makes Marina the only candidate with a proven record of results, which is why a vast majority of Milwaukee’s organized labor and leaders such as Mayor Tom Barrett and Congresswoman Gwen Moore have all endorsed her candidacy.
Assembly District 19 includes Milwaukee’s Bay View, East Side, Downtown, Riverwest and Third Ward neighborhoods. The Democratic Primary Election is August 12th, 2014.
