Bronzeville Week kicks off 15th annual celebration tomorrow

Bronzeville Week, an official City of Milwaukee event hosted by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs now in its 15th year, begins this weekend and will include an entire week of family-friendly events and vendors that promote health, art, culture, commerce, and a positive atmosphere in the Bronzeville district for all to enjoy.

Tomorrow – Saturday, August 2 – at 7:30 a.m. Bronzeville Week officially kicks off with the 2025 HaRUNbee 5K Run/Walk for Healthy Birth Outcomes. The mission of the HaRUNbee Walk/Run is to promote wellness by encouraging families to stay healthy and fit, both mentally and physically. Following the run/walk will be Brunch in Bronzeville taking place from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at participating locations, and will offer visitors a taste of what Bronzeville has to offer. Brunch locations include: Rise & Grind Café, 2737 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr.; Mi Casa Su Café, 1835 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr.; and Pepperpot, 2215 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr.

On Sunday, August 3, the Bronzeville Cultural & Arts Festival takes center stage from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. along North Ave. between Dr. MLK Jr. Drive and 7th Street. The event will include vendors, food, a kids’ zone and three stages of entertainment. There will be an outdoor combined service for Empowerment Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to noon on the Gospel Stage at N. Dr. MLK Jr. Dr. and W. North Ave.

Bronzeville Week continues on Monday, August 4 with a variety of events. First for the day is a virtual event, Dear Black Girl I See You, a virtual book reading with author Ebony Haynes. The event can be viewed starting at 10 a.m. on the Bronzeville Week Facebook page, Facebook.com/BronzevilleWeek. The day continues with Bronzeville Lunch & Learn: A Conversation on Exploring Housing Resources Together. The event will provide valuable insights and resources that empower neighborhoods. Join the conversation at noon at Rise & Grind Café, 2737 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday’s events conclude with United We Stand: The Power of Partnership and Collaboration at 5:30 p.m. at America’s Black Holocaust Museum, 401 W. North Ave. This will be an intergenerational panel discussion.

Bronzeville Week is hosted by Alderwoman Coggs, and is supported by the City of Milwaukee, Historic King Drive BID No. 8, the Brewers Community Foundation, Bader Philanthropies, Visit Milwaukee, area businesses, and numerous sponsors, including corporate and philanthropic sectors.
