As Out-of-District PAC Money Floods Into Race, Brostoff Proud of Strong Grassroots Campaign
Brostoff emphasizes local support and calls on other candidates to keep race positive
MILWAUKEE – Jonathan Brostoff, District Director for Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson (D-Milwaukee), announced today that his grassroots campaign for Assembly in the 19th District has now raised more contributions in 2014 than any other campaign in the race, most from local grassroots supporters that live in the district.
“As tens of thousands of dollars of campaign spending floods into our neighborhoods, most from out-of-district PACs and special interests, I’m proud of my positive, grassroots effort that has received an overwhelming level of support from local supporters,” Brostoff said. “With less than a week left until the election, I’m grateful that our hard work has continued to push momentum to our side.”
In this year-to-date, Brostoff received over 800 individual contributions, with more donations from voters that live in the district than any other campaign, according to Government Accountability Board financial reports released this week. The 19th District includes Milwaukee’s East Side and most of the Bay View, Downtown, Third Ward, and Riverwest neighborhoods.
Brostoff, who signed a clean campaign pledge, is committed to running a campaign focused on the policy issues most important to local residents.
“When I decided to run for this office, I knew I wanted to run a positive campaign that focused on issues important to our community, not negative soundbites or advertisements taken out of context paid for by outside groups,” Brostoff said.
“I’m the only candidate to sign the clean campaign pledge,” said Brostoff. “I urge my opponents to sign on and keep this race about important positive issues facing our community, not tearing each other down.”
“While there are no special interests funding TV ads or mailers or professional consultants on my behalf, we know that our significant grassroots support for our campaign can bring us to victory,” said Brostoff. “As the election grows closer and closer, neighbors know they can count on the fact that I have worked hard to earn their support — and that I will bring that work ethic as their full-time representative in Madison.”
Jonathan Brostoff is the District Director for Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson (D-Milwaukee) and is currently on a leave of absence to run for State Assembly in District 19. A longtime resident and community leader in the District, Brostoff is dedicated to bringing effective, progressive leadership to the state legislature. The primary election is on August 12th.
