30th Anniversary of Christmas in the Ward to take place in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward Friday, November 30, 2018

Catalano Square is the place to be when the event kicks off on Friday, November 30.

(Milwaukee, WI – November 20, 2018) The Historic Third Ward welcomes the holiday season with an old-fashioned tree lighting ceremony and winter fireworks over the river during the 30th Annual Christmas in the Ward which will be held Friday, November 30 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm in Catalano Square (North Broadway and East Menomonee). Admission to this family friendly event is free.

Catalano Square is the place to be when the event kicks off on Friday, November 30. The Tree Lighting Ceremony begins at 5:30pm with the Milwaukee Police Band performing a holiday concert. Milwaukee dignitaries will attend the ceremony along with Santa Claus, Jolly and Ginger Gingerbread, and Frosty the Snowman.

“We are so excited to host this 30th annual edition of Christmas in the Ward,” said Historic Third Ward Association Executive Director Jim Plaisted. “Our event is second-to-none in kicking off the holiday season and welcoming thousands to visit and enjoy our beautiful tree, fireworks over the river, and special musical performances.”

95.7 BIG FM’s Meg McKenzie will lead the countdown to light the Third Ward’s 40-foot Christmas tree, which is decorated with over 3,000 colored lights. At 6:45pm, enjoy a performance by the Trinity Irish Dancers and just after 7pm, a dazzling fireworks display over the river.

In Jolly’s Gingerbread House, kids of all ages can visit with Santa and have their picture taken for a $5 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin Friday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

During the event, visitors can ride through the neighborhood in a horse-drawn carriage starting at North Broadway and East Chicago ($3 adults; $1 children).

Discounted parking will be available in the Third Ward Parking Structures located at 212 N. Milwaukee St. and 225 E. Chicago St.
