Gathering Place Brewing Company is starting the $1 For Milwaukee program to support local non-profit organizations.

The brewery will partner with different non-profit groups each Thursday and donate $1 for every pint of beer sold throughout the day. Beyond the financial benefits, the program seeks to provide exposure with organization representatives on hand to answer questions.

“My wife and I have spent our careers in the non-profit world and have a deep understanding of the funding challenges,” said Joe Yeado, founder of Gathering Place Brewing. “We hope this program provides transparent financial support for local organizations as well as a platform for them to engage the community and share their work.”

The program was inspired by Reuben’s Brews in Seattle, WA whose Thank You Thursday initiative has donated more than $100,000 to local non-profits since it began in May 2013.

Public Allies Milwaukee is the first partner for the program with the kickoff event on Thursday, Feb. 7th.

“Public Allies works to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it,” said Executive Director Ashley Lee. “We are fueled by partnerships that allow us to connect with and convene people from across our community in fellowship, learning, and working toward justice. We are proud to join Gathering Place Brewing for their $1 For Milwaukee giving program.”

Gathering Place Brewing Company is an independent brewery in the Riverwest neighborhood dedicated to crafting vibrant and unique beers that reflect the vibrant and unique community it calls home.
