Ogden Avenue Corridor Development
Ogden Ave between N. Van Buren Street and Milwaukee Street has numerous retail establishments, but how well do they work together? Quite poorly. The groupings of stores work fairly well amongst themselves, but as an Ogden Ave retail corridor they turn their backs on one another.

Hometown Dorm Site – Additional Project Renderings
Mandel Group's efforts to construct a new UWM dormitory on the East Side took a step forward this week after receiving approval at both the City Plan Commission and the Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development Committee. This matter will be taken up by the full Common Council on December 16th, 2008 and if approved intends to break ground within 90 days.

Watch The Lake Express High Speed Ferry Dock
While the title may not sound that exciting, the Lake Express High-Speed Ferry docks in the Menomonee River valley for the winter. So to get there, it must travel in from Lake Michigan. They created a time-lapse photography video to show the journey and published it online. If you've got two minutes, it's interesting to watch the bridges rise and see what your view would be like if owned a yacht (or coal barge).

RTA Meets the Milwaukee County Board – Meeting Recap
The Milwaukee County Board's Transportation, Public Works, and Transit Committee, chaired by Supervisor Michael Mayo, held a meeting on Wednesday morning to discuss the recommendations approved by the Southeast Wisconsin Regional Transit Authority. Julia Taylor, the Governor's Appointee on the RTA, was on hand to answer questions along with Carl Mueller, the RTA's PR consultant, and Ken Yunker, who has worked closely with the RTA in his role at SEWRPC.

Potential Changes to the RFP Process
Milwaukee should explore how land sales are managed in order to achieve the highest and best use. If Milwaukee can become better at converting land from public and vacant to private and developed it will only be a benefit to the entire city by building a better urban fabric and raising the city tax base.
