2013 Veterans Day Parade

Politicians, patriotism and marching bands on parade, all captured in our photos.

Veterans groups, high school marching bands, and civilian organizations came out on Saturday to honor those who have served.

Mayor Tom Barrett thanked veterans for their service, and County Executive Chris Abele took part in the parade after spending the morning serving breakfast to veterans.

Along the way Urban Milwaukee spotted Ald. Joe Dudzik, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Presiding Court Commissioner Laura Gramling Perez, and Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke. But it was Saint John’s Northwestern Military Academy that made its presence known as wave after wave of future veterans marched on by.

Great event to pay tribute to those who served for us.
But who was responsible for the traffic tie up?

Great event to pay tribute to SOME who served but not all. This is an EXCLUSIVE event and not one open to all veterans. Such organizations as Veterans for Peace, Vietnam Veterans Against the Wary, Iraqi Veterans Against the War are not allowed to participate because “peace” is too political. Next year, add some pictures of the Veterans for Peace Armistice Day celebration/commemoration. Peace.

  3. Andy says:

Heaven forbid, Tom, that we have an event that attempts to avoid politics and allows people from all political ideologies to come together to honor ALL of those who have served and sacraficed for our country.
