Gubernatorial candidates should share their plans for Milwaukee
Statement of Alderman Tony Zielinski - October 24, 2018
With just days until the November 6 fall general election, we are seeing daily news reports of
appearances by Governor Walker and his challenger, Tony Evers. We hear them talking about an
array of issues affecting Wisconsinites, but the upcoming election especially holds heavy
consequences here in Milwaukee.
I am calling on both Governor Walker and Tony Evers to publicly share their specific plan to
help the City of Milwaukee address the ongoing and devastating lead crisis. On behalf of the
citizens of Milwaukee, I specifically want to know how they plan to help protect the tens of
thousands of Milwaukee children who daily live in danger of lead threats that can cause
irreversible damage, with impacts affecting the very future of our city.
I look forward to hearing how each candidate – if elected or re-elected – in detail plans on
addressing this highest priority health and safety issue in Milwaukee.
