Final NEWaukee Night Market of 2017
Thousands show up, adding life to Wisconsin Ave. and Westown.
The final NEWaukee Night Market of the year brought Milwaukeeans together in front of Grand Avenue Mall for one more night of commerce and fun.
NEWaukee is a social architecture firm specializing in community-based experiences. Their night market is one of the ways they engage the community, offering a free, open-air market to create a safe and interactive place on a portion of downtown Milwaukee otherwise reserved for cars.
West Wisconsin Ave. was packed with vendors between N. 4th St. and N 2nd St. as well as on N. Old World 3rd St. March of the Black Sheep offered adorable, crocheted animals; Cream City Caramels & Confections offered – what else? – caramels and confections; and more than 110 other vendors offered arts, crafts, home goods, food, and more.
But it wasn’t just a shopping extravaganza. There were plenty of other activities to be had. The True Skool DJ Lineup offered nonstop music accompanied by a live band. You should have seen the crowd lining up for the “Cupid Shuffle.” Those looking for something more relaxed enjoyed s’mores roasting in the GRAEF Anhalt Schloemer Foundation Lounge, or life size chess and checkers with Zilber Ltd. You could also shoot some hoops at the Milwaukee Bucks station or check out the live blacksmithing by Milwaukee Blacksmith.

I took a visitor here from France. It was a good time!
Great event – wished I had made the others ones this summer. The s’mores were a great treat!
I’ve never been to one of these events – but your article certainly makes me want to go to the next one!
