Less than two months after chef Paul Bartolotta and his team at The Bartolotta Restaurants celebrated the grand opening of the High Stakes steakhouse, another Bartolotta venture has taken off.

Located in Concourse D at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE), Bartolotta’s Bar and Ristoro celebrated its grand opening Thursday.

“We’re excited to introduce another exceptional dining experience at MKE,” said Brian Dranzik, the airport’s director, in a press release. “This new addition reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing the travel experience while bringing the best of Milwaukee’s local dining scene right to our travelers.”

The new concept’s menu mirrors the Italian focus Bartolotta is celebrated for. It offers a selection of antipasti (the first course of a traditional Italian meal) including bresaola and shrimp scampi; a variety of pastas; pizza alla Romana; and a focaccia panini. Secondi (second course) options include chicken Marsala and salmon olivada.

“Italian food has always been about great ingredients, simplicity and taking care of people,” Bartolotta said. “Bartolotta’s Bar & Ristoro brings that philosophy to travelers while staying true to the Italian cooking that has shaped my career. Milwaukee is our home, and whether you are arriving in our city, returning home or heading out on your next journey, we want the food you experience here to be something memorable.”

The restaurant’s bar program will serve red, white and sparkling wines alongside Wisconsin craft beers and signature cocktails such as the Italian 75, Hugo Spritz and Lakeshore Sunset. It will also offer nonalcoholic options.

The new concept was created in partnership with SSP America, the airport’s food and beverage operator. It is replacing Nonna Bartolotta’s, which opened in MKE in 2009.

Bartolotta’s Bar & Ristoro is open daily at 4 a.m., serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and snacks. A second location on Concourse C is expected to open in the coming months.
