WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Today, Representative Angelito Tenorio (D-14), proudly kicked off Filipino American History Month.

Rep. Tenorio said, “As Wisconsin’s first Filipino American state legislator, I am honored to celebrate the countless Filipino Americans whose leadership, resilience, and cultural richness have shaped our communities for centuries.”

“Filipinos first arrived in the United States 438 years ago. Today, we are the third largest Asian American and Pacific Islander community and one of the fastest-growing racial demographic groups in the United States,” said Rep. Tenorio. “Our community has made profound contributions in every sector including education, healthcare, public service, business, and the arts, and continues to strengthen the fabric of our state and nation.”

He encourages his colleagues to join him in co-sponsoring his resolution proclaiming October 2025 as Filipino American History Month in the state of Wisconsin.
