Wisconsin Physicians Run Mobile Billboard Urging Trump to Share ACA Plan While In Town
Call comes as House Speaker Mike Johnson says a second Trump term means “No Obamacare”
MILWAUKEE — As former President Trump holds a rally this evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin physicians are backing a mobile billboard circling the venue that states, “Patients Need Care, Not ‘Concepts.’ Donald Trump: What is Your Health Care Plan?” During the presidential debate on Sept. 10, Trump called Obamacare “lousy health care,” and when pressed about how he would change it, said he had “concepts of a plan.” In the nearly two months since, he has failed to share any plans.
On Monday, House Speaker Mike Johnson said that if Trump wins the election, there will be “no Obamacare.”
“With literally just days left until Election Day, Wisconsin voters deserve to hear from the former president about whether and how he would change the health care they rely on,” said Dr. Ann Helms, a Milwaukee neurologist and Wisconsin Lead for the Committee to Protect Health Care. “As doctors who know how critical the Affordable Care Act is to our patients, it’s unacceptable that Donald Trump, who has been running for president for nearly 10 years now, hasn’t shared a concrete plan for the law with voters. With other high ranking Trump allies claiming that a second Trump presidency will mean the end of Obamacare, Trump should be able to confirm or deny such claims and back up what he says with details. Otherwise, Wisconsinites should be warned that their health care, including protections for people with pre-existing conditions, are probably on the chopping block.”

Just wait The Doctors are asking Trump for his plan Trump a man who has NO capacity to redo The Affordable Care Act What is the matter with these Doctors that in a back handed way support Trump by suggesting that he can tell us about a real plan to provide all that is provided by the Affordable Care Act
This all is demonstrating the Media’s inability to establish the TRUTH yes without the TRUTH there is NO Democracy and yet even Urban Milwaukee refuses to deal with the simple TRUTH about MPS School Suspensions and how they are the start of the School to Prison pipeline that is self evident in looking at what schools suspend kids and who is in Wisconsin’s prisons If Urban Milwaukee can not cover the story then give me a weekly column that I will write with a few local Milwaukee folks about trauma and its impacts on Milwaukee Peace Thomas Spellman 414 403 1341
He has no plan. Not a clue.
If we KNOW that How is that Doctors do not???? This always is a puzzle
Thomas Sepllman: Doctors and other health professionals know that he has no plan to replace the Affordable Care Act. The purpose of the billboard is to remind citizens that Trump doesn’t have a clue and shouldn’t his supporters demand that he address that question (which he can’t).
A little to subtle and lets him and the Doctors off the hook so to speak There are those who believe Trump and calling for a Trump plan supports the idea the he has one .
It is a little detail but then there are those you say it is in the details
The Committee to Protect Health Care billboard highlights Donald Trump’s alarming lack of any sane approach to healthcare. In more detail, the Web site of the Committee to Protect Health Care provides some good input on improving healthcare plans. However, we have a decent healthcare plan and a solid starting base. Known as Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has proven itself since it was founded in 2010, and despite relentless efforts by some to gut, weaken, or cancel it, the ACA has been improved and strengthened. About 45 million people in the US are enrolled in ACA plans. The good news is that open enrollment for ACA coverage begins on November 1 at Healthcare.gov. The bad news is that a second Trump administration might successfully damage the ACA.
Many people might not understand how the ACA works, and it can be a bit tricky to understand how the calculations are done, but you have choices for health insurance carriers and types of policies, and you can choose a plan that works for you and is scaled to your income. We are lucky to have the choice of coverage in our area of Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative–a health insurer that puts people over profits. With a plan from CGHC and a Health Savings Account option, my coverage under ACA has been a valued and crucial part of my life and improved my health since 2016. It has worked exceptionally well, even given the complexity of health insurance and healthcare, and I can see how it works for people of different income levels, needs, and preferences for networks and deductibles, HSA choices, and other settings.
There is, of course, room for improvement. The efforts of The Committee to Protect Health Care may improve access and costs. However, the fundamentals of the ACA, plus improved public health initiatives, can make a difference. We are lucky to have Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez (MSN, MPH, RN), who is interested in social determinants of health. By working at all levels and components of health care–individuals and public health, insurers, and providers–with attention to access and cost, we can improve healthcare.
I am vehemently opposed to politicians like Donald Trump or Speaker Mike Johnson, who seek to misinform people about the ACA. I am appalled at people like RFK, Jr. and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, who spread misinformation and lies about health issues. Donald Trump’s candidacy is a threat to many aspects of our country, including public health. Healthcare is a fundamental aspect of living, and denying effective programs for purely ideological or political reasons is dangerous.
