Wisconsin Democrats Announce $735,000 Raised From Veep Cast Reunion Live Event
MADISON, Wis. — Today, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin announced its latest virtual grassroots live event, a reunion with the cast of the hit HBO comedy Veep, raised $735,000 to support Democratic candidates up and down the ballot. In total, more than 20,000 people made a contribution to join the special livestream event, featuring a table read of the third season episode ‘Crate’ — in which Selina Meyer learns she is going to be president.
Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler issued the following statement:
“If there were Emmy awards to give out for Zoom performances, the Veep cast reunion benefitting WisDems would have swept the night. It was such a blast to watch Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the cast of Veep come together with our all-star lineup of special guests to reenact a genius episode, and all of it on behalf of a great cause: democracy.
“It’s going to take every penny that we can raise to win this thing for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, for Tammy Baldwin, and for our House and state legislative races around the state. We know that Wisconsin is going to come down to a microscopic margin, and live events like these can make all the difference in making sure we’ve got the resources to compete, turning out the one or two votes per neighborhood across the state that will put Kamala Harris over the top this November.”
