Supervisor Coggs-Jones Commends Upcoming Lucille Berrien Park Mural Unveiling
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee County Supervisor Priscilla Coggs-Jones will be attending the Lucille Berrien Park Mural Unveiling and Community Celebration on Sunday, May 28th, at Lucille Berrien Park, located at 3629 North 16th Street. The event, organized by True Skool, Inc. And the Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression, aims to celebrate the life and legacy of Milwaukee hero, Lucille Berrien, through the unveiling of a stunning new mural. Supervisor Coggs-Jones made the following statement:
“This legislation provides correction of a historical atrocity and moves us forward in our commitment to racial equity. Lucille Berrien‘s contributions to our city have been immeasurable, and it is only fitting that we honor her memory with this mural and community celebration.” said Supervisor Coggs-Jones “The Lucille Berrien Park Mural Unveiling and Community Celebration promises to be a memorable occasion, showcasing the power of community collaboration as we honor an extraordinary individual who has shaped Milwaukee’s history.”
The mural, sponsored by the Milwaukee Parks Foundation, will be officially revealed at 2 pm, marking an important milestone in the park’s history.
Supervisor Coggs-Jones, who authored the resolution, expressed her admiration for Ms. Lucille Berrien, describing her as an incredible community activist deserving of recognition.
Ms. Berrien’s legacy includes being the first African American woman to run for Milwaukee mayor, dedicating her life to fighting for civil rights and social justice, and serving on the board of directors for Legal Action of Wisconsin and the Black Health Coalition.

That is wonderful but the neighborhood need mor than a 2 hour feel good moment. Milwaukee elected official Need to do more that reflect the Vision of the person being honored.
We need more concrete permanent changes.including Housing and money for neighborhood improvement.
