State Representative Anderson Votes Against Unfunded Proposals

MADISON, Wis – Today the Assembly took up multiple bills that were unfunded.

Following Tuesday’s Assembly session, Representative Anderson (D-Beloit) issued the following statement:

“Today, we took up multiple bills that originally included funding, only to have Republicans strip out those dollars before bringing them to a vote. Instead of working together to fund real solutions, the Legislature is wasting time on unfunded bills that offer nothing more than empty promises. This is not how responsible budgeting is supposed to work. Our state budget is now being held hostage by the most extreme elements of the Republican caucus, and Wisconsinites are the ones paying the price.”

Representative Anderson voted against these unfunded proposals and introduced an amendment to SB 283, a bill that would provide hearing protection for law enforcement officers and first responders.

“I offered an amendment to make sure SB 283 actually provided the resources needed to protect our first responders from long-term hearing damage. But Republicans rejected that funding and passed the bill anyway, without a dime to back it up. Our first responders deserve more than performative politics. They deserve real support. The people of Wisconsin deserve better than this.”
