Senator Baldwin’s 2nd District visit highlights outstanding work being done in Milwaukee
Statement of Common Council President Cavalier Johnson
Earlier today Senator Tammy Baldwin visited Dakonte Product Group located at 6615 W. Mill Road in the 2nd Aldermanic District to congratulate the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) on receiving a Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI) award.
I’m thrilled that Senator Baldwin decided to host this visit at Dakonte Product Group, as this business represents all that is possible in Milwaukee. Kate and Don Hill purchased then Sussex-based BMG Corp. and in 2016 they decided to relocate to Milwaukee’s northwest side and invest in the surrounding community. Earlier this year they were recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal for their work with a 2021 Diversity in Business Award. This honor recognizes entrepreneurs, individuals and commercial enterprises whose contributions toward growth, expansion and prosperity are making a difference in Milwaukee. As a minority owned and operated business, they are a great example of what entrepreneurs can achieve in our community, and I commend them for all that they have achieved. I’d also like to commend WWBIC for all of the support they provide to local businesses, and to all the other organizations that were highlighted today during Senator Baldwin’s visit.
