Safe & Sound Kicks off Annual Event, A Night to Unite: Celebrating Neighborhood Champions

A Night to Unite features a cocktail hour, raffle and live auction, dinner, and an awards program.

MILWAUKEE – Safe & Sound is excited to announce its annual event, A Night to Unite: Celebrating Neighborhood Champions, will take place on Thursday, September 13, 2018.

The event, which last year attracted 450 attendees and raised more than $230,000 for Safe & Sound, will be led by co-chairs Grady Crosby, Johnson Controls; Alicia Dupies, Milwaukee Bucks; and Kim Marotta, Molson Coors.

Herb Kohl Philanthropies is the presenting sponsor of A Night to Unite: Celebrating Neighborhood Champions. Senator Herb Kohl was one of the founders of Safe & Sound, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

A Night to Unite features a cocktail hour, raffle and live auction, dinner, and an awards program. The 2018 awards will honor four individuals who work alongside Safe & Sound to improve public safety in Milwaukee’s neighborhoods. The awardees are:

Herb Kohl Champion- Carmen Pitre, President & CEO, Sojourner Family Peace Center

Law Enforcement Leader- Judge Derek Mosley, Presiding Judge, Milwaukee Municipal Court

Resident Leader- Betty Gaines, Sherman Park

Youth Leader- Princess Safiya Byers, Amani

The event celebrates these outstanding community leaders and will also raise funds for Safe & Sound’s mission to unite residents, youth, law enforcement, and community resources to build safe and empowered neighborhoods.
