MADISON – Tonight, Governor Tony Evers delivered his 2021 State of the State Address virtually to the Wisconsin State Legislature. Assembly Assistant Minority Leader, Representative Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) released the following statement in reaction to the Governor’s State of the State Address:

As Governor Evers mentioned in his address tonight, no one could have anticipated the challenges our state would face in 2020. I appreciated Governor Evers highlighting the importance of coming together to find solutions to the issues facing our state. I believe that with the depth of our empathy and the strength of our selflessness, as the Governor mentioned, we took the past year head on and I know that if we come together we can see this difficult time through.

We are not immune from the grief of loss or the discouragement last year handed us, but I agree with Governor Evers that Wisconsin will not be defeated. This year we have a lot to do to provide pandemic relief, deliver rural broadband, make our healthcare system more accessible, and much more. I am hopeful that with Governor Evers’ leadership, we can meet the challenges of 2021 and create a better future for all Wisconsin residents.
