Odell Ball Announces His Candidacy for the Milwaukee District 9 Aldermanic Seat

(Milwaukee, WI)- Odell Ball is announcing his candidacy for Milwaukee Common Council District 9 aldermanic seat. His desire to serve as a council member is based on his intent to bring positive change to the area he loves and has raised his family in for close to 30 years. His experience includes working in community development, technology, education, and drug & alcohol abuse prevention.

Odell worked as a Youth Development Specialist with the Boys & Girls Club, and a counselor for the Next Door Foundation. He also taught in the Milwaukee Public School system, Milwaukee Area Technical College, and Marquette University for over three decades.

Odell served as the Lead Trainer in the Milwaukee Public School’s Drug Free Schools Program. He performed training and workshops across the country for the Department of Education to combat drug and alcohol abuse by students and  their families and has served on the Milwaukee County Drug and Alcohol Prevention Board. Odell also served as an Interim Assistant Dean at Milwaukee Area Technical College and a Technology Coordinator for Marquette University. Additionally, He was a licensed private investigator for 8 years and worked as a US Census Field Supervisor for the 2020 Census.

Odell earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Marquette University. He also earned an Educational Certification Degree from Wisconsin Lutheran College and completed one year at Marquette Law School.

Odell Ball has served as the Chairman of the Board of two non-profit organizations, the Milwaukee Police Athletic League and FIT-CLUB MKE.  These organizations concentrated on positive youth development.

Odell is a long-time member of the Providence Baptist Church. He served as the Director of Christian Education, Food Pantry Coordinator, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Deacon Board. He is a former basketball star for Rufus King High School and Marquette University. Odell was drafted, in 1979 by the Denver Nuggets and played professionally in Europe and the Philippines.

Odell Ball resides in the 9th District, is married to Denita, and has three children and one grandchild. He seeks to restore the historic Granville area to its original prominence by establishing new family sustaining jobs and curtailing the rise in crime, which includes the epidemic of reckless driving.

Odell knows that doing what is popular will please some people but doing what is right is what his faith commands him to do!
