Not Just The “Wrong Speech”: Ron Johnson Has Long Parroted Extreme Claims
MADISON, Wis. — Last night, Ron Johnson delivered a divisive and extreme speech to the Republican National Convention—only to later claim the “wrong speech” had been loaded into the teleprompter. Instead, Johnson claimed to have rewritten his remarks to issue a call for unity.
YESTERDAY…
RON JOHNSON: “But we are unified because we understand that Democrat governance is destroying this country. […] You know, everything the Democrats have done when they were in control has weakened America, which has emboldened our adversaries around the world.” [John Solomon Show, 7/15/24; 00:08:45]
LAST MONTH…
RON JOHNSON: “Yeah, well individuals in the media, they went to colleges that are run by radical leftists, so they’re not journalists anymore. They’re advocates for the left. And that’s what leftists in politics, you know, government officials, people in these agencies, they can rely on the fact that the media will back them up. They’ll never hold them accountable […] The radical leftists infiltrated every institution in this country and we are seeing the results of that infiltration. It’s destroying this country.” [Meg Ellefson Show, WSAU, 6/12/24; 00:16:18]
AND THE MONTH BEFORE THAT…
RON JOHNSON: “What we really ought to be focusing [sic] as Republicans, […] how do we fight and defeat the ideology and the policies of the radical left that are destroying America from within? Before we look all around the world at what enemies we need to destroy, why don’t we first secure our own homeland? Set up a good defense on our homeland, and then why don’t we figure out how to defeat those politically who are destroying our America from within?” [Vicki McKenna Show, WIBA, 5/29/24; 00:08:00]

I am starting to seriously worry about dementia spreading in the Republican party. These ridiculous statements by Ron Johnson are over the top. Impeachment? Demand a cognitive evaluation? Voters–how should we handle this lunacy?
We can always count on RoJo to blame anybody and everybody else for everything the Right doesn’t like. It is exactly statements like those mentioned here about the media that fan the flames of those in his party that turned their hatred and vitriol toward journalists covering the assassination attempt. They were shouting “you’re next” at reporters and TV crews, as if their mere presence (in their deluded minds) was the reason for the attack.
This stupidity from Ron and the GOP is wearing me out. Thank God the media is there to observe and report.
Apparently RoJo is opting for the “they started it” argument. See below.
That never worked in grade school, and it certainly does not work in the US Senate. RoJo’s way of treating someone with respect is blaming them for things he doesn’t like or agree with. VERY mature, and VERY respectful.

Wisconsin senator claims that Secret Service was “more concerned about DEI” than protecting Trump
From CNN’s Aaron Pellish
Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson said he has no confidence in Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and made baseless claims that the shortcomings in security preparation ahead of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump may be attributed to diversity and inclusion initiatives at the agency.
Asked in an interview with Washington Post Live on Wednesday if he has any confidence in Cheatle, Johnson said “absolutely not” before questioning whether the agency was “more concerned about DEI than protecting … President Trump.”
Trump actually praised officers who were on his detail the day of the attempted assassination.
“There are certainly reports and, you know, there’s a lot of evidence that this would be true, that Director Cheatle was far more concerned about DEI than protecting, for example, President Trump,” Johnson claimed, without offering any proof about the allegation.
Johnson’s comments as some conservatives have singled out female Secret Service officers assigned to Trump’s security detail on Saturday as being at fault for failing to prevent the shooting that left Trump and two others injured and a rally attendee dead.
Asked if he believes Trump bears any responsibility for the current political climate following the shooting, Johnson said Trump’s behavior and rhetoric has been dictated by how Democrats and the media have acted towards Trump, pointing to the allegations Trump colluded with Russian intelligence officials to improperly influence the 2016 election as an example.
“Your behavior is dictated by how you’re treated. Let’s treat each other with respect, and maybe everybody’s behavior can change,” Johnson said.
If there are any shortcomings, it might be between Ron Johnson’s ears. What hilarious assertions!
Maybe some one needs to tell Ron that hundreds of thousands of voters in Wisconsin don’t have confidence in him either. Does that help?
If anyone needs to be taken to task for the violent political climate, it is certainly Mr. Trump and his cult. We have more taped rhetoric from Trump that incites retribution than any other president in our history.
Perhaps Ron needs to start following his own dictate and treat others with respect instead of looking to blame others for illogical reasons.
RoJo’s an even bigger fool than I thought.
UGH!
