Bucks and Johnson Controls to provide two local high school students with $10,000 HBCU scholarship

MILWAUKEE (Feb. 19, 2025) – The Milwaukee Bucks will celebrate the fourth annual HBCU Night, presented by Johnson Controls, on Thursday, Feb. 20, when they host the Los Angeles Clippers at 7 p.m. at Fiserv Forum. Part of the Bucks’ Black History Month celebrations, HBCU Night honors the legacy and excellence of historically Black colleges and universities and those who attended them.

- Camille B. Garrison, M.D./F.A.A.F.P. (Xavier University of Louisiana) – Vice Chair, Associate Professor, Medical College of Wisconsin
- Omari Fleming (Kentucky State University) – St. Joseph Academy music teacher
- Dr. Duwan J. Wamack – Claflin University president
The Bucks HBCU Experience will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fiserv Forum TODAY, Feb. 19. Media interested in attending should RSVP to Kate.Reed@Bucks.com and enter Fiserv Forum through the Service Entrance.
Students at the Bucks HBCU Experience will also have the opportunity to connect with representatives from several HBCUs, including Alcorn State University, Bethune-Cookman University, Bluefield State College, Delaware State University, Fisk University, Florida A&M University, Jackson State University, Johnson C. Smith University, Lane College, Livingstone College, Mississippi Valley State, Morehouse College and Rust College. The event will include a performance by the Rufus King High School drumline, which won the 2025 MPS Battle of the Drumlines competition, and five students in attendance will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to use toward tuition at an HBCU.
Prior to the game, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” will be performed by the Tennessee State University (TSU) Saxophone Ensemble. The halftime performance will feature TSU’s Grammy Award-winning Aristocrat of Bands with special guests. A live art showcase celebrating HBCUs and the Divine Nine, the National Panhellenic Council group of nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations, will be set up in the Potawatomi Club with artists from Greenwood Park Gallery and Framing. The live artists will also have their work on display and available for purchase at Sections 110 and 201.
