Major Travel Writers Convention Heads To Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE — (Sept. 29, 2021) Milwaukee is proud to host the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), North America’s largest and most prestigious professional travel writer group, for its annual convention Oct. 3-7. Over 200 of the most accomplished travel journalists and destination marketing professionals will attend.
“We’re delighted to host SATW as we begin to rebound from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Peggy Williams-Smith, president and CEO at VISIT Milwaukee. “My team has been working diligently on this conference for over 2 years and it is fantastic to see it come to fruition. For nearly 5 days, Milwaukee will be the focus of hundreds of travel writers and it will result in earned media stories about the city for years to come.”
Wednesday, Oct. 6 will be dedicated to day tours. Each tour is themed and will take travel writers to various locations throughout the Milwaukee area.
“Milwaukee was simply the right choice to hold our long-anticipated convention,” said Larry Bleiberg, SATW’s president. “It’s a surprising, dynamic city, with diverse culture, fascinating history, and an abundance of beautiful natural and human-made landmarks. Our members will find countless stories here that readers will enjoy over the course of several years.”
SATW had planned to host its 2020 convention in Milwaukee. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the event to be rescheduled. Previous host locations for the annual event have been El Paso, Texas/Juarez, Mexico, Iceland, China, Barbados, Portland, and Las Vegas.
