Who: Layton Boulevard West Neighbors (LBWN)

What: The LBWN Mobile Bike Hub will be unveiled at Bicycle Fiesta, the culminating event of Bike to Work Week.

Where: Wisconsin Bike Fed Offices – 3618 W Pierce St – Milwaukee, WI 53215

When: Saturday, May 18, 2013 – 1:00pm-1:30pm

Why: The LBWN Mobile Bike Hub will offer FREE workshops to youth and adults to promote bike safety, bike maintenance and a healthy lifestyle through biking.

The Hub’s grand debut will take place at Bicycle Fiesta, a community celebration marking the conclusion of Bike to Work Week.

Beginning this month, the Mobile Bike Hub will begin traveling around the LBWN neighborhoods of Silver City, Burnham Park and Layton Park on Milwaukee’s South Side offering FREE workshops on bike safety and maintenance to youth and adults. The Hub will visit neighborhood schools, parks and other community spaces to promote a healthy lifestyle through biking.

While the Mobile Bike Hub will initially work in the Layton Boulevard West neighborhoods, other neighborhoods are encouraged to contact LBWN to make arrangements to bring the Hub to their communities.

The Mobile Bike Hub is a direct result of the 2011 LBWN Quality of Life Plan made possible by the Joseph and Vera Zilber Family Foundation. Through the Plan, over 250 neighbors and stakeholders identified seven strategies around which they wanted to focus the neighborhoods’ revitalization efforts including Youth Education & Leadership and Healthy Living. The Mobile Bike Hub fulfills both of
these goals.

Partners: The Mobile Bike Hub would not be possible without the generous support of the Charles D. Jacobus Family Foundation, the City of Milwaukee Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation, LISC Milwaukee, and the Joseph and Vera Zilber Family Foundation. The Wisconsin Bike Fed serves as a project partner.
