January  11, 2016 [Milwaukee] – In Tandem Theatre presents Lamps for My Family by local Milwaukee playwright, Michael Neville, February 19 – March 13, 2016. In this poignant and funny play, Jack Duddy returns to his childhood home only to find a houseful of relatives – all of them deceased and wanting to talk his ear off! Tickets ($30) can be purchased by calling the Tenth Street Theatre Box Office at 414-271-1371. Senior, student, military and group discounts are available. Visit www.intandemtheatre.org for more information, including dates and times, and to order tickets online.

From charismatic and heartfelt to downright crazy, the Duddy family offers a little bit of everything. After caring for the last of his remaining family, Jack begins to pack up his childhood home, where up to 20 family members once lived under the same roof. Jack lets his family have their say through the lamps that belonged to and now represent each member of his large and colorful Irish-American family. Actor Mark Corkins plays all the characters in this one man show about revisiting the past in order to discover one’s future.  This play is best enjoyed by those 16 and over.

Corkins returns once more to In Tandem’s stage to bring the Duddy clan to life having last been seen as Gideon in Burying the Bones in the 2013-14 In Tandem season and Dasher in the 2015 In Tandem performance of The Eight Reindeer Monologues. He has also been seen on stages throughout the Milwaukee and Wisconsin area including the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Milwaukee Shakespeare Company, Next Act Theatre, American Players Theatre and Door Shakespeare.

Michael Neville is a local Milwaukee playwright and has written various shows including an In Tandem favorite, Dracula vs. the Nazis. A Marquette University alum and Artistic Director of Playwright’s Studio Theater, he produced the Festival of Ten-Minute Plays for several years. Neville has attended the Edward Albee Master Class in Playwriting and his work has been produced in New York City at the Manhattan Theater Club, Ensemble Studio Theater and Town Hall. Locally, his plays have premiered at First Stage Children’s Theatre, In Tandem Theatre, Playwright’s Studio Theater and nationwide at ACT Seattle, the Actors Theater of Louisville, and the Changing Scene in Denver. He has also been the recipient of fellowships in playwriting from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York Creative Artist Program and the Rockefeller Foundation.

In Tandem Theatre’s Artistic Director, Chris Flieller, will be directing the show as well as designing the set. Rounding out the design team for Lamps for My Family are Joey Welden (lighting), Jonathon Leubner (sound) and Kathleen Smith (costumes).

Lamps for My Family is sponsored, in part, by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts, the United Performing Arts Fund, CAMPAC (County Funding), and Wisconsin Public Radio. The opening night champagne reception is sponsored by Mr. John Holland.
