Fitzgerald Reacts to Wisconsin Supreme Court Decision in SEIU vs. Vos
[Madison, WI] — Following today’s ruling by the Wisconsin Supreme Court in SEIU vs. Vos, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald released the following statement:
“Today’s ruling is a victory for the Legislature and all Wisconsinites who want to hold government accountable. A rogue attorney general can no longer unilaterally settle away laws already on the books and unelected bureaucrats can’t expand their powers beyond what the people have given them through their representatives.”
Among many provisions, the ruling requires that Attorney General Kaul send settlements to the Joint Committee on Finance for review, halting the practice of “sue and settle.”
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) represents the 13th Senate District, which covers portions of Dodge, Jefferson, Waukesha, Washington, Dane, and Columbia counties.
